Re: Long Test Message
By Douglas K. Rhodes

I don't believe it! Beneath the calm, organized exterior of our major-domo lurks the crazed mind of the arch-cryptographer. I've got to hand it to you, Jody. Like most of the rest of the gang, I took your test message at face value. If it hadn't been for my four-year-old playing with the BinHex program, I never would have realized what was right in front of my face. It took a lot of fiddling. I had to Uudecode, then re-binhex, Unstuff, Zip, Gif and gaff the file, but boy, was I rewarded. At first I thought the resulting MIDI file was a modern tune, maybe the Hyakutake Rag. Then it hit me. Jelly Roll Morton, the lost original hand-played roll of *At the Zulu Ball*, the rarest of the rare!!!

I don't know how you did it, Jody, but thank you, thank you. A little early for April Fools Day, perhaps, but I guess you figured it would take until then for any of us to figure it out. We're all proud to have you at the helm. And (seriously), keep up the great work.

Cheers

Doug Rhodes

[ Hmmm... Now let me see if I can top that on April 01...

[ Steve Vance, who works for Charles Schwab, has a brand new
[ Skytel two-way alpha pager. He's been forwarding all his mail to
[ the pager (with a duplicate kept on his home machine). The error
[ reporting back to the sender on long messages was inadequate. Now
[ that he knows something is wrong, he can fix it.
[
[ For what its worth, I get _LOTS_ of error messages from various
[ of mail systems supporting our subscribers. I don't have time to
[ investigate every one of the errors; further some of the errors
[ are completely mysterious. If you receive a digest that says that
[ the previous digest is one you didn't get, please send mail to
[ rollreq@foxtail.com so I can resend it to you.
