Just as an aside, I use a piece of plate glass as a cutting board. and
a new single edged razor for the cutting. The tape doesn't adhere to
the glass so getting short but accurate pieces of tape is easy. The
razor also helps to hold small slivers of tape as I position them. I
once managed to rebuild a 7 foot three part rip down the center with no
air pockets -- as smooth as the original. Took all day, but was worth
it ("Old Fashioned Love" PB Henry Lange).
