Kilgen Player Residence Pipe Organ
By Marc Kaufman

I have just acquired an 8-rank Kilgen Residence pipe organ, with a 4-roll player. The tracker scale is described in Bowers & Reblitz (Treasures of Mechanical Music) on page 411. Alas, the test rolls which were presumably in existance in 1981 can no longer be found.

I would appreciate any information on Kilgen organs, and on Roesler-Hunholz Concert Organ rolls.

The organ was removed from its original installation about 6 years ago, and needs extensive rebuilding (every piece of leather has decayed or been eaten by rodents). I'll keep the group informed about the progress of the restoration, which ought to be fun, if tedious.
