It seems to me that in the "debate" concerning restorations
and whether or not to use the "original - possibly unsafe parts"
or modern techniques, there is one idea I have not yet seen
proposed.
Personally, were I to find myself in this predicament, what
I would do is this: For my own peace of mind I would use
modern methods/parts/etc. However, I would save all the
original parts - perhaps in a plastic bag which is then attached
to the inside of the piano.
Doing this, I then have my own piece of mind, yet, should
I be interested in selling it some day, and the buyer felt
is was worth less because of the new parts, the old ones
would still be there for re-installation.
Just a thought - - -
