Do you suppose that we could possibly refer to this page by a common
acronym which everyone agrees to? More and more people are coining AMI
(as in Automatic Musical Instruments), but it also references rolls,
MIDI systems, and many more topics indirectly related, such as
materials and the effects of weather. I vote for calling it AMD
(Automatic Music Digest), and heading it as such, so that everyone will
see it and refer to it accordingly. Even searches on the internet
should be able to pull it up that way. There seems to be no way around
the fact that enthusiasts want a convenient acronym, and as long as we
don't have one, they will invent their own. What do others think of
this idea?

[ Editor's Note:
[
[ I'll have to go back through the archives some time and see how
[ frequently readers use "AMD" is used to refer to the digest. I'm
[ fond of the acronym and it easily follows from the label at the
[ top of every digest (Automatic Music Digest). The acronym AMD sure
[ beats AMML (Automatic Music Mailing List. However, Robbie has been
[ trying to get me to somehow incorporate the term "Mechanical Music"
[ into the name of the digest because it is the more common European
[ usage.
[
[ It would seem that having the keyword "Mechanical Music" appear
[ in the Web Page would insure that our potential European friends
[ would find the Web Page (and thus the digest) if doing a Web search.
[
[ I'm encourage comments from the other readers on both Robbie's and
[ Craig's suggestion for the group's name and acronym.
