Wincode
By Ron Yost

Hi all!

In response to Craig Brougher's questions re: "Wincode" I'd like to provide some new information.

First, I think it should be remembered that 'Wincode' is, and has always been, FREE. The author of Wincode, George H. Silva, has only charged for the help file. I admit that this is somewhat strange, but this is the way George has chosen to distribute his wonderful program.

Wincode is now in version 2.7.2.g beta. This version is VASTLY improved, and includes a Help file! I've not encountered any encoded file that the latest version can't automatically handle. This latest version expires Oct. 31, 1996 (yes, Halloween!), but George has assured users that the full version will be available from the 'Snappy' site before the expiration date. (fingers crossed!)

The best (and fastest) site to get Wincode 2.7.2.g beta from is:

http://www.global200.net/users/snappy/snappy/wincode.html

(yes, two snappy's!)

All the shareware sites have the old version until the new version is 'released' in November.

This is the "Wincode Info Page" Mirror Site and contains 8-pages of helpful information worth printing-out, as well as a direct link to download v. 2.7.2.g.

If you want to skip the Info page, you can download it directly from:

http://www.global2000.net/users/snappy/ftp/wc272b16.zip

Its approximately 995k. Note: the 'b' indicates it's a beta version.

The new, official, Snappy Software WWW Main Page is:

http://www.global2000.net/users/snappy/snappy/index.html

This is the page to make all links to in your web pages.

Hope this helps you, Craig. Please try this version of Wincode. I still use Win for Workgroups 3.11 and have no problems at all with Wincode. It is still a 16-bit version, though, so I cannot vouch for the performance in Win95.

If there are problems, Snappy has two e-mail addresses of use:

For questions: wincode@snappy.global2000.net
For comments: feedback@snappy.global2000.net
