MMD Archives September 1996 1996.09.22 01 Prev  Next Phonograph Wound by Pumping Piano By Al Menashe I saw an interesting item at an auction here in Portland. It was a Player piano with a phonograph built in. What was unusual was that the pumping of the piano also wound up the spring in the phonograph, there was no crank. so before you could play a record you had to pump it up, or play a roll. It went for $1100. I guess I should have bid more. I dont recall the brand, but it was American made. Al Menashe (Message sent Sun 22 Sep 1996, 06:03:10 GMT, from time zone GMT-0500.)
