'Don't Give Up The Day Job'
By Robbie Rhodes

In Digest 960923 Joyce Brite quoted advice for cornet students:

> Don't fail to learn a trade in addition to your music ... you will
> find it difficult to learn a trade after you are well past the
> "amateur age."

When I sent my new piano roll arrangement to British arranger John Farrell for a critique, he replied succinctly,

"Good tune, Robbie, but don't give up the day job!"
