Cork-rubber Gaskets
By Andy Taylor

Hi Gang, I was working on a player yesterday and had to replace the
flap valves on the pumps. I was out of the leather that Player Piano
Co. sells for this purpose; however, I did have some 1/4" cork-rubber
sheeting, so I tried that for flap valves. It worked fine with no
leakage.

I realize that the Reblitz book tells you to not use cork-rubber at
all, so I was wondering how long this material would last? I certainly
don't want to do a repair that will fall apart in a few years. If any
of you have had experience with this material I would be interested in
finding out how well it ages.

Thanks in advance
Andy Taylor
