Art might like to take a look at the Monster that was recently
restored in Kansas.  It was restored as part of a Carousel restoration
project and was the subject of a program on PBS Television.  I don't
know if I still have the video or not but the Monster sounded good and
presumably restored to original condition.  Perhaps someone on the MMD
knows the exact whereabouts in Kansas.
