Yamaha Disklavier Computer Piano at UCI

The Gassmann Electronic Music Series at the University of California,
Irvine will present several events featuring new compositions for the
Yamaha Disklavier computer piano during the month of April.  You can

Leading figures in computer-generated music and art discuss their
work, and the philosophical and aesthetic implications of computer
creativity.
Artificial Creativity*: In Concert
Computer Music and Art by D. Cope, G. Lewis, H. Cohen, & C. Dobrian
Wed. April 15, 8:00
UCI Concert Hall, Free

Music composed in the style of famous composers by David Cope's EMI
system; robot-painted artworks by Harold Cohen's AARON system; live
music improvisation by George Lewis's Voyager system; and Christopher
Dobrian's "Entropy" for Disklavier.
Modernizing Curriculum for Piano
A Lecture/Performance by Daniel Koppelman
Mon. April 27, 3:30
UCI Concert Hall, Free

A discussion of how digital technology and synthesizers can change the
way keyboard skills are taught, with performance of exemplary works.
Piano Plus
A Recital of Piano and Electronics by Daniel Koppelman
Mon. April 27, 8:00
UCI Concert Hall, Free

Modern music specialist Daniel Koppelman performs works for various
combinations of piano and electronics, including new works for
Disklavier by William Kleinsasser, Daniel Koppelman, and Christopher
Dobrian.
Human & Computer Music
A Concert of Instrumental and Electronic Works by Christopher Dobrian
Wed. April 29, 8:00
UCI Concert Hall, Free

A concert of contemporary chamber music for instrumental ensembles and
for electronic instruments, including three compositions for
Disklavier.

* The Artificial Creativity events will be repeated April 16 at the
Center for Research in Computing and the Arts at the University of
California, San Diego, and April 22 at the Music Center of the
University of California, Santa Cruz.
