What Are We Here For?

In yesterday's MMD I am sure that Ray Fairfield spoke for many of us
when he suggested that music making, not applied physics, should be the
main topic of discussion here.  Beware -- the technocrats are trying
to take over!  Today it is bending hammers flying free of any force,
tomorrow it could be the behaviour at room temperature of kangaroo skin
pouches at sea level.

What has any of this to do with Fats Waller?
