DcArt will extract the signal from hill-and-dale (vertical cut) records.
One of the filters is a stereo-mono filter which will do one of
L+R, L only, R only, L-R.

L-R effectively cancels out the groove walls and leaves only the valley
-- in other words, the vertical information. I have a Pathe' vertical
cut record and can verify this. I used to have an Edison but I sold it
a while back.

After that, it's stylus size. My first guess would be an LP stylus, which
is smaller than 78.
