Pronunciation of "Hooghuys"

Scott, the way I understand it, it is pronounced something like
"Hoch-hass".  I believe it means 'high-house', or high-born.

It is _not_ pronounced "Hoo-guys", as I thought for years!  :)

I'm sure one of our Belgian friends will have a better explanation.
