Nickelodeons in Seattle
By Art Reblitz

In one scene near the beginning of the 1964 movie "Man's Favorite
Sport?", starring Paula Prentiss and Rock Hudson, the characters enter
a display room full of nickelodeons and orchestrions. I've never
watched the whole movie, and it's been many years since I saw the scene
in question, so I don't remember all of the instruments that were
shown, but I think there was a Cremona J.

Several people have told me that this was filmed at the Seattle World's
Fair, where the exhibit actually existed. Was the Seattle Center
located where there fair had been?

The walls of the room depicted in the movie are painted pink or red,
leading some people to the erroneous conclusion that it was filmed at
the Cliff House complex in San Francisco, which also had a "red room."
The Cliff House complex never displayed a Cremona J.

The Seattle collection was owned by a private individual who has never
been known to very many people outside of the immediate area.
