Charles Smith's Duo-Art Rollography
By Rob DeLand

I strongly recommend that everyone with the slightest interest order a
copy of this outstanding rollography. I put Post-It tabs on the
sections in my copy (artist, composer, number, title) which makes it
much easier to use. Charles did an amazing job of compiling all this
scattered information. Nobody else had the courage to take on such a
task. The only harder job would be the Welte catalog, and guess who
had the courage to take that one on?!!

I'm guessing one of the easiest ways to order Charles Smith's Duo-Art
Catalog is from Keystone Music rolls (800-367-8259, or fax your order
w/ VISA or MasterCard at 610-434-2993). It's $47.50 plus $2.50
shipping. No discount is offered on literature, so don't bother
waiting to combine your order with something else.

You might also try the address listed previously in MMD (BTW, it's
"625", not "62"):

    The Player Shop
    625 South Myrtle Avenue
    Monrovia, CA 91016

While Charles is no longer with us (and sadly missed - what a neat
person!), his good friend Ron Sanchez is still there and might
appreciate the opportunity to sell them directly. After all, Ron had
to endure all of Charles' fussing and fretting as this and the Welte
books were being compiled! ;-)

For those of you who don't know me or Ron and didn't get a chance to
know Charles, please understand this is said with tongue in cheek. I
wish I had the time to describe the great times I had visiting Charles
and Ron at their shop.

Do any of our So. Cal. MMD friends know any more? Does Ron have books
in stock and is he willing to ship them for $50 ppd? Or doesn't he
want to be bothered with it?

-Rob
