Charlotte MBSI Meeting Report, Amendment
By Sam Harris

I have had a number of responses from my thought concerning the MBSI
meeting.

After further thought I have decided the following.

1. I have come to realize that it is foolish to decide after only one
meeting whether I will continue my membership. In other words, it is
unwise to judge the MBSI after one event. It's kinda like deciding to
marry after only one date. I will admit I may have been to hasty in
judging the MBSI. I did not realize the membership of the Piedmont
chapter was mostly interested in music boxes. I realize that if the
meeting had been hosted in another area there is a good chance there
would have been a great representation of pneumatic instruments. I now
wish I had not been quite as quick to share my feelings especially when
they were not very well thought out. Of course none of you make that
mistake. :-)

2. I failed to realize that even thought there were not very many
pneumatic instruments the Piedmont chapter did set up a number of
workshops dealing with these type of instruments.

In conclusion I have decided to maintain my membership for the time
being. I would also like to visit a few local MBSI chapter meetings,
if I could find out when and where. I would like for many of you
pneumatic professors to take Beatrice up on her offer to write for the
MBSI. How about it?

My comments in my previous posting was not meant to be a slam on the
MBSI. It was simply the expression of the impressions I had.

BTW I still have not had any explanation as to why, one wishing to
attend the conference must first be a paid member. Could someone who
knows fill me in on the reasoning behind that rule. Think of the local
publicity and exposure we could be missing by limiting these wonderful
meetings to "Our four and no more." Oh no, I don't believe the local
public will come in droves to pay the $200.00+ registration but who
knows with the right PR a lot could happen. I don't know maybe I'm
missing something.
