Marc Elbasani's "Music Fit for a King", Vol. 2
By Tom Grace

Hello Everyone -- I am listening to the new CD by Marc Elbasani of
John Malone's Wurlitzer 165 and I must say I am very, very impressed.
The recording is very good, clean crisp and clear. But most of all
I am really enjoying the B.A.B. transcriptions.

So many people are not fond of these recordings, and this is really the
first time I have been able to sit down and listen to them in quantity.
There are just no recordings out there of the Wurlitzer 165 playing
B.A.B. rolls! I must say I am very very pleased with the music, it
lends itself to being so much more musical, with that European flavor.

I am now only disappointed that these rolls are not available and are
not likely ever going to be recut, so I have no hopes of hearing this
music on my organ. Perhaps there might be a few people out there who
are interested in getting some rolls, we can get Mike Grant to do some
recuts of these rolls for us.

The B.A.B. transcriptions sure make a 165 sound like a different
instrument altogether. It's so nice to hear a counter-melody that
is actually being used, and more use of register changes. The
arrangements are truly a treasure; if you did not know it you would
think you are listening to a large European fair-organ and not a
Wurlitzer. I just don't understand why so many people don't like
B.A.B. music.

What can I say? Marc, you have done a great job, and thank you for
the B.A.B. music. It's _fantastic_! I would recommend you _all_ buy
this CD -- you will never hear a Wurlitzer 165 sound like this.

So, what's on Vol. 3?

Tom Grace
