Replacement Piano Hammers
By Debbie Legg

Mike Walter's asked for suggestions on what brand of new hammers to use
for his Chickering Ampico. I am a piano technician/player technician
and have just replaced the hammers on my Ampico Symphonique with
prehung hammers from Brooks Ltd. (Wally Brooks). I used the Abel Light
hammers hung on Tokiwa shanks and flanges.

They sound wonderful, much like the originals and Wally does excellent
work so very little traveling, etc. is needed. Well worth the cost of
getting them prehung.
