My thinking has now been set straight. I am used to reproducing piano
recordings that leave almost everything to chance, and time's decay.
Many of them -- I doubt they even tuned the piano or rebuilt the stack.
I know Mr. Stahnke is a fanatic about the electronics and pneumatics and
that is the only way to get the quality found on his CD, now we know he
is also fanatical about the piano as well. This is a good thing.

That said, I must comment: I prefer a piano that is less harsh and more
like the new American and German pianos sounded back in the 50's and
60's. I am well aware that many people like the brittle post-Yamaha
screech in the treble. I am just not one of them.

I will still buy the next Stahnke CD as well as the two I already
bought.
