Gustav Bruder Schlager Potpourris for Gebruder Bruder Fair Organs
Recently I have been enjoying recordings of "Schlager Potpourris"
recorded on a late roll-operated (circa 1926) 52-key Gebruder Bruder
fair organ.
A Schlager Potpourri is a medley of hit songs. These medleys are
extremely well arranged and feature a number of American popular songs.
The arrangements exhibit a musical sophistication usually found on
German orchestrions such as a Weber Otero, Maesto, or Hupfeld Helios,
etc.
I was told that many of the Schlager Potpourris for Gebruder Bruder
organs were arranged by Gustav Bruder, the noted arranger for Weber
orchestrions. I was also told that Gustav Bruder arranged a large
number of Schlager Potpourris from the mid-1920's into the early 1960's
for Gebruder Bruder fair organs, especially 52-key organs.
Have any of you ever studied Gustav Bruder's involvement in fair organ
arrangements, particularly the arrangement of Schlager Potpourris?
How many Schlager Potpourris did he arrange for the 52-key Bruder?
If you have any information, please share it with those of us who are
just learning about this potential large source of superb Gustav Bruder
arrangements.
