Preposterous But Fun!
By John Kleinbauer

Hi All, A man who works at Tower Records in New Jersey says all
mechanical music is worthless and crude. He is a so-called Classical
Conductor. The man is extremely smart but very rude. On the week-
ends he conducts an orchestra. He works at Tower Records to pay the
bills, while hoping someday to earn a living as a conductor. He
laughed when I said I was building a small barrel organ. If you
mention 'Yanni', he gets really crazy. I am glad his opinions are
only shared by a few.

I feel any method someone uses to read music rolls is fine with me.
Using air, as done in the past, is the core of this hobby. To try
other methods whether wacky or not is just plain FUN! I retired at
age 37 from the field of electronics. I burned out trying to keep
up with all the developments. This is why I like old mechanical
instruments. The FUN factor is much higher when you can see how a
machine works.
