New Rare Jazz, Ragtime and Blues Piano Rolls
By Frank Himpsl

I'd like to announce to MMD members that my wife Amanda and myself have
recently partnered with our good friend John Farrell of England, who
many of you already know as the "grand master" of present-day hot piano
roll arrangers! We will be issuing and distributing John's current
and future roll arrangements on our new JazzMan roll label.

Also, in response to many collector requests over the years, John has
agreed to a limited reissue of several of his most notable past roll
performances. In most cases these have become collector's items and
are virtually unobtainable. We are offering these classic jazz
reissues on our JazzMan Archive label. These rolls comprise a key
addition to any collection of hot piano music.

Lastly, I (Frank) have been playing ragtime piano for most all of my
life, and collecting piano rolls for more than the last 25 years of it!
During that time I've been fortunate enough to come across a number of
truly exceptional original rolls in the areas of ragtime, blues and hot
dance band material. We will be reissuing selected examples of these
on our Phantom Fingers label, along with some of my own arrangements of
very rare vintage ragtime compositions which never originally made it
to piano roll format.

Our first offering list for JazzMan, JazzMan Archive and Phantom
Fingers piano rolls is now available by request (FHimpsl@aol.com or
MandyNMe@aol.com). The list comprises rare ragtime and jazz rolls
in the styles of great artists such as Jelly Roll Morton, Kansas City
Frank Melrose, Teddy Wilson, Bix Beiderbecke, Fletcher Henderson and
others, as well as recuts of several outstanding original jazz piano
rolls from the 1920s.

In the future we will continue to issue John's rolls as well as more
reissues of vintage roll material, including ragtime, hot Welte dance
material and newly discovered Capitol A-roll blues performances. We
will also be conducting periodic mail auctions of original piano rolls.

Many thanks!

Frank and Amanda Himpsl
