Bushings in Old PPCo O-roll Spool Frame
By Bernt Damm

Hello all, Thanks to Bill Masterman's kind efforts, I just received
my very first O-roll spool frame! It is the old style PPCo frame with
the big motor and fan belt, as made in 1971.

I found that the nylon bushes in the left plates allow an awful lot of
play in the shafts. The bushes do not look particularly worn, but the
holes they fit into seem too large and they are very loose in the plate
when assembled. The bushes are also cut open at an angle.

Is this all normal? Do I need new bushes or were they glued in with
some sort of putty? What should the hole diameter be in the plates?
Were nylon bushes fitted originally? One bush is made of phosphor
bronze and has no excessive play in it.

Regards,

Bernt Damm
