Announcement: End-of-Year Fundraising Drive In Progress

Our End-Of-Year Fundraising drive is in progress. If you haven't contributed to the operation of the MMD in the last 12 months, this would be a great time to contribute. There's a PayPal link at the bottom of each page on the website.

If you aren't sure when you last contributed, please send me a note using the contact form at the bottom of this page and I'll look you up in my records.

Thank you for your generous support!
Jody

P.S. While your support is needed and appreciated, you do not need to contribute to be a subscriber. If you have subscribed and aren't receiving your Digest, please use the contact form at the bottom of the page and let me know. Thanks!

Recutting Project: Wurlitzer 165, APP & Caliola
By Matthew Caulfield

Who uses Wurlitzer APP, Caliola, 165 rolls?

I would like to get the names and email addresses of everybody who uses
the 9-5/8" wide Wurlitzer rolls. Those are style 165 band organ rolls,
65-note Automatic Player Piano (APP) rolls, and Caliola rolls.

John Malone (Play-Rite) has said that he could cut Wurlitzer rolls
toward the end of the year, if we can subscribe to the cutting in large
enough quantity to make it worthwhile.

Play-Rite offers a combination of quality and price that no one
currently can meet, let alone beat. The first step is to poll users
and see what rolls are in demand. For my part, there are a number of
never-recut original 165 rolls that are good candidates for the
project.

[ Recutting narrower Wurlitzer formats is probably also feasible,
[ as long as the channel spacing is 0.1227 inches. -- Robbie
