Dear MMDers:
Updating everyone with regard to the criminal prosecution against Paul
Lamont Deaux for "piano fraud" ($5,500 was taken from me by an
unscrupulous piano dealer who "sold" me a piano that didn't exist - See
my MMD submissions of 1998.12.21.01, 1998.12.22.07, 1999.07.23.02 and
2000.02.08.02), I am pleased to report receiving from the Jacksonville
District Attorney's office a cashier's check for $5,500, representing
nearly full restitution (no money for pain and suffering!).
Unfortunately, the D.A. insisted on dropping the charges once
restitution was paid, but I am very happy to have my money back. A lot
of persistence, but well worth it.
Thanks again to all of you who encouraged me during this fiasco.
Best regards,
Timothy Baxter
