Hupfeld Phonoliszt Violina Instruments, New & Old
By John Rutoskey

In response to Larry Mayo's question regarding the number of Hupfeld
Phonoliszt Violina instruments are still in existence, I thought there
were about 75-80 remaining originals. Is this correct? I would like
to know myself.

Replicas of the instrument have been made, as well as a model with two
bows and six violins instead of three, constructed with the aid of old
photographs since no machine of this type has apparently survived.

I'm sure there is a good market for original rolls for these machines,
as well as the Play-Rite recuts.
