I came across an interesting very brief history article on Central
Park [New York City] which includes mention of the carousel.  The
author, Robin Sparkman, briefly mentions the band organ music, (not
so favorably), and provides a link to a short audio clip.  The sound is
rather marginal quality.  There are a few pictures.  The link is here:
