Piano Mover: Cormier Movers, North Hampton NH
By Jim Moore

I thought I should outline my experiences with a large and well known
piano mover, Cormier. I had them move a 9' grand from Wisconsin to
PianoDisc in Sacramento CA.

A week after they picked up the piano they called me and wanted more
then the $1,100 firm price they had quoted and that I had prepaid.
I refused and contacted the seller of the piano, who had recommended
them, and he in turn contacted them and they backed down.

When the piano was delivered to Sacramento it was not on a skid and
the truck only had the driver aboard -- this for a 9-foot 1,000-pound
piano! Next the driver said that he needed payment; he was advised
that it was already paid for. He "would not leave the piano" until
he was paid. I contacted Cormier who contacted their driver and the
piano was "dropped off" the next day. Oh, did I mention? It was
damaged, too.

Sorry this is so long but I thought with people looking for movers
it would be good to know about this company.

[ Under ICC regulations, valuable goods for shipment, such as
[ a big piano, are moved under a "single item" contract and the
[ customer must be informed in writing about the amount that the
[ instrument is insured for. The value of the instrument is
[ stated in the contract and the customer must sign that he or
[ she is aware that the amount of insurance is not sufficient
[ to cover the loss or damage (or storage) of the instrument.
