Pianos in Unfriendly Climates
By Mark Kinsler

I've been reading the comments about the perils of piano storage
in our instrument-unfriendly modern homes. Somehow, however, I get
the feeling that this is not an altogether new problem. I'll bet
Beethoven's piano repairman griped about similar difficulties:

"These new coal stoves completely bake the moisture out of the
instrument, and then the humid German summer rots the felt..."

Mark Kinsler,
just speculating that people and weather haven't changed much.
