Converting Orchestrelle to Play 88-Note Rolls
By D. L. Bullock

I think most people have come to the conclusion that you do not want to
convert an Orchestrelle to play 88-note rolls. I must also agree with
that, however, Craig Brougher comes closest to my thoughts.

If you must play 88-note rolls then tube into the system and build a
separate console to hold the 88-note spoolbox. Because of the size of
hole in the roll you may have to build a primary valve box that may
also have to convert from suction to pressure. You will probably have
to pressurize the spoolbox with a glass panel in front unless you have
one of the more rare suction Orchestrelles.

There is another option. Call Larry Broadmoore, tel. 1-800-497-4266,
and see if he will build you a PowerRoll Midi to trackerbar converter
for the Orchestrelle trackerbar. That should enable you to play any
of the CD-ROMs of scanned rolls that are now available. I have two
Orchestrelles in storage waiting for restoration and that would be the
only way I would update the Orchestrelle software library.
