Viscount RD-70 MIDI Diskette Player
By Robbie Rhodes

The Viscount RD-70 floppy diskette player device takes the place of a
computer and MIDI sequencer program so that piano music, pre-recorded
as a MIDI file, can be played at a solenoid piano or a pneumatic piano
fitted with magnet valves, such as the Broadmoore PowerRoll. The
output is the standard MIDI wireline signal.

In February, 2000, I visited the NAMM (music merchant's) convention at
Los Angeles Convention Center, where I met Mr. Gary Girouard, the U.S.
sales manager of Viscount U.S., and Mr. Mauro Galanti from Italy.
I asked about the future of the RD-70 unit. Mr. Galanti assured me that
the Viscount RD-70 disk player will remain in production indefinitely.

"Viscount" is a trade name for electronic products (pianos and organs)
made by Intercontinental Electronics S.P.A. of Mondaino, Rimini, Italy.
Mauro Galanti is the son of the owner, Marcello Galanti. The web site
is http://www.viscount-organs.com/ ; a history of the firm is at
http://www.viscount-organs.com/company_profile_1.htm , email
<sales@viscount.it>

The business card I was given says:

  Viscount U.S.
  Gary Girouard, National Sales Manager
385 Main St., Wakefield MA 01180
  tel 781-245-9608 fax 781-245-7333
  email: Gary Girouard <garyg@viscountus.com>
  http://www.viscountus.com/

I got the impression that Viscount U.S. was not a product distributor.
The web site gives new telephone numbers for Viscount U.S.:
tel.: 1-508-457-6771, fax: 1-508-457-6672
