Fate Marable & Steam Calliope Photo at Web Site
By Julian Dyer

On a perennial MMD favourite subject, I was just browsing the wonderful
Red Hot Jazz web site and came across a photograph of the jazz legend,
Fate Marable, playing a steam calliope aboard a riverboat, circa 1920.
Thought fans might like to have a look.

One side of the only record Marable made, with his Society Syncopators,
was a fine orchestral version (no calliope, alas) of Roy Bargy's
'Pianoflage', so a double-whammy for the mechanical music fans!
