AMICA & MBSI Annual Meetings 2002
By Ron Bopp

For MMD readers, I want to inform you about two important meetings
coming up this year. First is the AMICA Annual Convention to be held
in Springdale, AR. The dates are June 26 - 30, 2002 at the Holiday Inn
Convention Center. Registration is going well for the meeting but
there are some spaces still available.

Several informative workshops are lined up as well as a tour to Eureka
Springs where we will tour the Crescent Hotel (new home of Marty and
Elise Roenigk), see their collection and enjoy the historic town. We
also will tour the new home and expanded museum of Gerold and Linda
Koehler in Joplin -- Gerold has spent hours and hours (days and days)
putting together a great place to visit. For more information and
registration contact Mike Schoeppner at <ms-ss@swbell.net>. Come see
the AMICA Convention in this central portion of the US -- we promise
you a great time!

The second meeting is the Annual MBSI Meeting in Chicago, IL. The
dates for this meeting are August 28 to Sept 1, 2002. The Jasper and
Marian Sanfilippo tour is included in the meeting registration as well
as over a dozen informative workshops, a special audio/video
presentation by Angelo Rulli and myself, a 125-table mart and the
opportunity to see one or two of six great tours including collections
of Krughoff, Gilson, Choffness, Veome, Ramey and Dayton. Opportunity
to see downtown Chicago is offered in two separate tours as well.

There is a "Orgelfest Biergarten" where you will have chance to sip a
cool one and enjoy several different small street organs -- both old
and new. This is a chance of a lifetime to see large orchestrions,
large fairground organs -- both European and American, a huge amount
of disc and cylinder boxes, an extensive phonograph collection and
numerous other mechanical musical instruments. Our registrar is Carl
Curtis and he can be reached at carldcurtis@tir.com . MBSI members
will get their registration packet and registration forms soon in the
mail as they have just been mailed.

Any non-MBSI member wishing to attend may download the necessary
information from a PDF file by contacting me at <bopp@gcinet.net>
and I will send that to you. For those wishing to come, however,
I do recommend that you register early because registration will
be limited and registration for the tours will be limited as well.
