Pianola Concerts at Searsport, Maine
By Douglas Henderson

Hello MMD readers, Here's a new web page, with three illustrations
of signs for our current "Pianola Concert" series:
http://www.wiscasset.net/artcraft/pianolas.htm

It's not often that a motorist (albeit driving an RV in most cases)
would encounter roadside announcements like these! If there are other
'drive by' announcements for similar Player-Piano events, we haven't
heard of them, to date.

We are happy to proclaim that the pneumatic player piano (at least in
this scenic corner of New England) has "come into its own" as a solo
instrument, 'holding' seated audiences for evening musicales and
elevating the performance level of this medium by playing mostly-modern
arrangements, which exploit the expressive resources of the player
action.

Our concerts in Maine will continue through September 1, 2002, this
being the 2nd Season at Searsport Shores. Check the web page, above,
for the dates, all of which take place at 7 p.m., in their spacious
recreation hall. The general public is invited to these concerts,
beyond the campers and tenters. The "virtuoso" possibilities of the
player piano continue to amaze those who attend these special
presentations.

Regards,
Douglas Henderson - Artcraft Music Rolls
