Kimball-Welte Roll Player Compatibility
By Howard Towlson

I'm looking for advice regarding playing Welte Philharmonic Organ
Rolls, styles III, IV, V and VI, on a Kimball-Welte roll player.

According to the book, "Treasures of Mechanical Music," by Reblitz &
Bowers, page 416, the Kimball-Welte pipe organ roll player would play
the majority of the functions on the Welte Philharmonic pipe organ
rolls properly, with one major exception: the stop settings on the
Kimball-Welte unit are not reversible but done by a general cancel.

I was wondering if an easy fix would be to use a Duo-Art jack box so
the reversible cancel function could be done using the Kimball-Welte
roll player. Are there any other items that I should be aware of that
might cause major problems?

I am still looking for Welte pipe organ rolls, especially classical.
