Passing of Graham Whitehead
By Paul Camps

Dear All, Some of you may be interested to know that Graham Whitehead,
founder/owner of the Nickelodeon Collection housed at Ashorne Hall
passed away in hospital last Thursday evening 1st of May 03.

Graham was an avid collector of mechanical musical instruments from
an early age. I joined him in 1980 and assisted with many restoration
projects. The chapel at Napton on the Hill was soon outgrown and
the collection was moved to Ashorne in 1991. A purpose built hall was
constructed to house the dance organs and the Compton Cinema organ,
the smaller instruments were displayed in three other rooms adjoining
the hall. In recent years Graham acquired the Piccadilly Plazer organ
a model 260 Wurlitzer the only one of its type in the country. Sadly,
the Wurlitzer is not quite finished.

I'm sure that those of you who knew him well will lament his loss from
the world of mechanical music.

yours sincerely,
Paul Camps
