Ampico B Jumbo Roll Flanges of Metal
By Bob Stewart

Today I found an Ampico Jumbo B roll (1934 issue) with very nicely
machined aluminum spool ends, painted black. I have never seen another
set.

Was this typical? Were they offered as after-market? Would appreciate
your thoughts.

Bob Stewart

[ My theory: when the heavy roll accidentally fell to the floor, the
[ original spool flanges (of Bakelite?) broke, so a helpful machinist
[ made new metal flanges for the roll spool. -- Robbie
