Rebuilding Standard Pneumatic Action Wind Motor
By Michael Concordia

Hello all. A little update on my rebuild. I tried the clear squeeze
bottle for hot glue application and while it is nice to avoid the
brush, the bottle is pretty messy: I found it very hard to control the
amount of glue coming out and once it does start coming out, it doesn't
want to stop. Very messy if moving from part to part. Any tips
appreciated.

I'm now looking at the wind motor block and, after a little sanding to
get it flat again, the cracks in the (valve side) veneer don't really
look that bad. I'm thinking maybe to widen them a bit and then fill
with? Hot glue?

If I do decide to replace the veneer, I assume it is important to keep
the grain in the same direction as the slide valve travel? If so, it
would appear that several pieces of 3 to 4" wide veneer will be needed
since 12" wide, 0.1" thick veneer (or any thickness) mahogany ain't
readily available.
