Stripped Screw Holes in Wood
By Jeff Bridges

Thank you all for your input. I have printed up all the suggestions
and will try one of them. Some of the holes are very small and some
are very large, so I will try the wood plugging with dowels.

I have found that most of my problems are the hoses from the vacuum:
they are hard and not pliable anymore. A quick fix for me was to wrap
some duct tape inside so that the hoses fit more snugly onto the
fittings and I get less leakage, so that my player works okay for me.

As for my other problem, I had to re-drill two new holes for screws
in the tracker mechanism since the wood was split where the old screws
where. I filled in the holes with wood glue so as to not have any leaks
and then drilled new holes close to the old ones. This stopped my
leakage problem, and since the cork is old and dried out a bit I also
used Vaseline to refresh the cork. Believe it or not, it did make the
cork like new, plus it made a wonderful airtight seal. And if you're
all wondering, I have a Duo-Art console player.

Sometime down the road I might want to add a xylophone to my player
but in such a way that I don't ruin the player itself. So if anyone
has a xylophone they would like to donate I would welcome it.

Sincerely, Jeff Bridges
