Violano Bow Motor Failed
By Reid Welch

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

Never a problem with the Violano before today. The bow motor is
now dead (open magnet winding?). Have ascertained by voltmeter that
110 VDC is present between the "M" connection and the frame.

Is this a place where someone might help me by email? I suspect
that the left-rear field magnet is open-circuit, but do not know much
anymore about these things. Please drop me a line if you have any help
to offer, or refer me to some professional who might help me diagnose
the problem.

I have long experience with this one instrument but electrical tracings
were never needed before. Have no real circuit diagram for the Mills
bow motor, so I need ... haaaaalp!

Kind thanks,
Reid Welch
