Dihydrogen Oxide
By Paul Morris

Thanks, Jim! We live in a crazy world and your piece just about
sums it up. Of no relevance to mechanical music, but just as daft
is the idiotic information of contents we have to endure here in
England. How about a label on a salt container claiming, "Fat 0%
of which saturated fat 0%," or a warning on pistachios: "Caution,
product may contain nuts."

Common sense -- whatever happened to that!

Bye!
Paul Morris

P.S. There are two dihydrogen oxides commonly known, and I think the
one you wrote about should really be called dihydrogen MONoxide DHMO
(as opposed to its relative DHDO).

[ I believe the term in 'standard format' is hydrogen hydroxide (HOH),
[ since one hydrogen ion (H) links with a hydroxyl (OH) radical, but
[ most chemists would call it ordinary water! ;-) -- Robbie
