Fair Organ Music in "SpongeBob SquarePants Movie"
By Arthur Michaels

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

Dear MMD (I can't believe nobody wrote about this) -- I have seen and
own a cartoon movie called 'The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie'. In the
"Bubble Party" scene in middle of the movie, SpongeBob and Patrick in
the toilet room make bubble suds from a soap box and shout "Hooray,
Bubble party," and instantly I heard an overture portion of "Can-Can"
(Offenbach) in the background and sounding like it was playing on a
fair organ.

What I've thought, it could resemble a crossover of a Wurlitzer 165
band organ or an 89-Key Gavioli. I don't know which one is the exact
organ, but it could be a Wurlitzer 165 which is my opinion. Otherwise
if I'm wrong, the song maybe isn't played on a organ -- that the organ
sound is fictional. Even in the credits at the end of the movie, there
is no trace of copyright of this song.

With the PAL Australian (Region 4) version of the DVD, the "Bubble Party"
scene happens at Chapter 6, "Thug Tug" (since there are 14 chapters of
the movie on the PAL DVD). The time of the scene of the movie can be
found at 33 minutes and 29 seconds (33:29).

If you don't own the DVD version or own the VHS version, just fast
forward to where SpongeBob and Patrick enter a sunken ship club called
Thug Tug. Then, when SpongeBob goes to the bathroom that is where the
"Bubble Party Scene" begins.

Happy Music from Down Under,

[ Thanks to the time Arthur provided I finally located the scene.
[ I hear too many different bass notes for the instrument to be
 [ a Wurlitzer 165; it's sure a jolly sound! -- Robbie
