Preserving a Fragile Music Roll
By Spencer Chase

Hello, If a music roll can be played on a player piano without falling
to pieces, then it can be scanned on my scanner. Even some rolls that
would fall to pieces can be scanned if repaired first. There is no
problem recutting the scanned roll if there is enough interest.

A Themodist roll will play on a Duo-Art but the levels for the
Accompaniment and Theme must be provided with hand controls. I have
written a program that will allow the insertion of expression codes
while an E-Roll is playing on an E-Roll playing Duo-Art. This can be
done with 88-note rolls, Themodist rolls and with E-Rolls made from
other sources such as other reproducing formats or from standard MIDI
files.

I will be demonstrating this program as well as the ability to record
the results at the AMICA Annual Meeting in Chicago in a couple of
weeks.

Best regards,
Spencer Chase
