Laffargue Player Piano in Australia
By Daniel Cox

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

G'day Doug Hershberger, Thanks for the words of encouragement. Yes,
mine does have the upside-down individual demountable block valves.
Thanks also for taking the time to check your one; at least now I know
that the button is a silencer button (none of my buttons were named on
the keyslip).

In regards to calling my player a pianola, yes, you are correct with
the way we use our terms here. No one here in Oz (except restorers and
serious hobbists) call their pianola a player piano. After I was in
trouble by my wording I did sit in the corner with a dunce hat on my
head to learn my lesson! All in all, it was taken with a grain of salt
and I will use the correct terminology from now on.

Since my previous posting I have removed the stack and it came out
quick and easy. I'm just in the process of cleaning up the old tubing
and will start the recovering in due course.

I'm really enjoying my restoration and spend many hours working on it,
or at least doing something with it. It sure beats watching the same
old thing on TV night after night.

If all goes well with the Laffargue, I will keep my first one and get
another "player" and start a whole new project again, but this is of
course 12 to 24 months down the track.
