The Pease Collection in Palmer, Massachusetts
By Jeff Bridges

Hello all! How does one open up a sentence when the first thing you
see on MMD posting is another passing of a member. Forgive my coldness
and with no disrespect to anyone. It saddens me to read of people
passing away from the mechanical musical society. My condolences go
out to the families that have had a loss.

On a different note, I had the distinct pleasure of visiting a
_wonderful_ collection in Palmer, Massachusetts. It is The Pease
Collection of Historical Instruments, an antique shop that sells
reed organs, piano-fortes, melodeons, music boxes, pipe organs,
organettes, player organs, brass, strings, woodwinds, phonograph
records (78s and LPs), sheet music, historical literature, organ
rolls, restoration parts and supplies, music box discs piano rolls
and organette pinned rolls!

I spent about an hour or so in the shop, amazed and with awe at the
sight of all the musical instruments. They even have a square organ
& piano combo. And, get this: a church organ, all for sale in this
couple's 3-store shop. They even have oddball rolls that you have been
searching for. I even saw a player roll two feet long (about); they
also have style "O" rolls, a whole room with player piano rolls at
$2.50 a roll. They even have Edison cylinders; I saw about 20 or so
on a shelf.

If anyone ever gets to Massachusetts you really must check out their
shop. It's located at 1351 Main Street, Palmer, Mass. They are open
on Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Mondays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The
telephone number is 1-413-283-8684.

I think someone told me that they are also members of either AMICA or
COAA, but I forgot. I also think they are subscribers of MMDigest as
well <lol> but again, I am not sure. Here is their email address
<nbpease@comcast.net>. Please let them know I sent you.

Also, is there anyone else out there who lives in Massachusetts that
is repairing player pianos? Currently I seem to be the only one out
this way.

Sincerely, Jeff Bridges
