Ampico Electric Roll Drive Conversion
By Michael Swanson

An article appeared years ago in an AMICA bulletin on the conversion of
an Ampico-A vacuum operated roll drive motor to an electric drive
system that fit neatly into the drawer. Unfortunately the electrical
parts required, electric motor and motor controller manufactured by
Bodine are obsolete.

Has anyone attempted this conversion? Does anyone know of alternative
parts that are available? One of the beauties of this conversion is
that it did not affect the originality of the piano, because it re-
quired no alterations or added screw holes; all of the original parts
could be put right back in. Any suggestions?
