Duo-Art in 1912 Steinway Upright
By Craig Roothoff

Along the subject of very early Duo-Arts, I own an upright Steinway
Duo-Art with serial number 148881, which I believe gives the piano
a date of 1912, before the Duo-Art was marketed. This is the earliest
such serial number that I've heard of; does anyone know of an earlier
one?

The piano is a complete Duo-Art, with steamboat pump. There are no
signs of any work done to adapt it from earlier design. I presume it
was earlier existing inventory used for one of the first Duo-Arts.
