Polishing Musical Box Cylinders
By Howard Cohen

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

I am brand new at mechanical music collecting, although I repaired
two player pianos enough to have them work enjoyably (using supplies
from Player Piano Co., to set the time period!).

I have just bought an "Ideal" Mermod Freres 14" musical box with three
additional cylinders in the appropriate drawer. Although the cylinders
are not at all corroded, they are dull. Is there a proper system for
polishing them with no pin damage? Thanks to anyone interested in
helping me.
