Repairing Brass Trumpet Organ Pipes
By Kent Zacherl

Well my first topic is the building of a player reed organ. I tried
to use Hohner reeds but they were out of tune and take too much air.
My plans were to make a pressure box and the control the reeds directly
but I don't think this will work well enough to get the reiteration of
notes from music rolls. If anyone has ideas or can help with plans,
please contact me as soon as possible. I plan to use 20-note
Castlewood rolls and hope to have it done by the August grind organ
rally in Franklin.

Now on the other hand, does anyone out in the world of MMD know how to
get a few old band organ pipes working? I got them from the donation
box at DeBence Antique Music World and I believe that they are either
trumpet or trombone pipes. They are brass and look like the pipes on
the front of a Wurlitzer band organ. I can't get them to work and
I have no make of organ or anything.

Always,
Kent Zacherl
